What is a
Syringe Plug?
Syringes are a common device used to measure or draw liquids. They also are widely used to administer injections. Traditionally, syringes were large, reciprocating pumps. They were also used in firefighting equipment.
The open end of the syringe is often fitted with a nozzle or hypodermic needle. In addition, a stopper at the end of the plunger prevents leakage. However, some types of syringes have a cavity that forms a pressure chamber. If there is too much pressure, the plug will remain in the cavity.
When using syringes to inject a medication, the dose is usually located on a line on the plunger. If it is not, it is necessary to remove the syringe from the bottle and rotate it up to align the dose with the correct volume line. Alternatively, the syringe can be tapped to release air bubbles.
In addition to a plunger, syringes also contain a tip. This tip may be threaded or slip-tip style. It is sometimes loaded with grease to make it easier to use.
There are many different designs of medical syringes. Some are meant for use in the mouth and do not have a needle. Others are used to measure and apply compounds. They can also be used for milk for small animals. They can be washed and reused by the same patient.
Some syringes have self-sealing dosing adapters. These allow accurate dispensing of liquid medicines. They are compatible with most bottles that have a 28mm standard neck size.
