What is Syringe Needle Holder?
A
syringe needle holder is an instrument that allows the user to easily and safely attach the needle to the syringe. The device has a ratchet mechanism and is made of a hinged joint with reinforced jaws. It can clamp the needle between its jaws and is commonly textured. These devices are designed with a short, narrow jaw, which increases the mechanical advantage of the device.
Syringe needle holders come in two embodiments, one of which is disposable, and the other is non-disposable. Each has the same principle of operation, however, the first embodiment is more convenient because it is used with a disposable needle. A syringe needle holder's principal objective is to provide a syringe needle with a pivotal position relative to an injector, thereby facilitating the transfer of a medicant through the syringe needle.
In an alternative embodiment, the syringe needle holder incorporates an integrated ball that engages the needle. In this example, the ball engages the needle's hub with an abutment surface 366 on the flange of the ball 314. This allows for a contact seal between the needle hub and the ball.
A second axial end recess extends through the holder body. This second recess has a greater radial extent than the first one. It is connected to the body of the holder by a solder joint 176.
